Hello Beautiful Monsters and Fabulous Disasters, I’d like to welcome you to the first post here on DIG! I’m Noomi and I’d like to introduce who I am, what we are and what our objectives are. I’d also like to talk about some changes that will be coming.
So, firstly, who am I? My name is Noomi and I’m a 51 year old Trans Woman. My passion is gaming, video games, card games and board games. I love to share my passion of gaming with my friends, and want to share my passion with you. Due to various mental health issues, I often find going into a situation not knowing about the people I will be interacting with, I tend to withdraw and feel unable to truly express myself. I fear discrimination because of who I am and what I believe, so I teamed up with some friends and partnered up with TnCoffeeLGBT to create safe spaces for diverse gamers and thus DIG was born. My gaming platforms are XBox One, Stadia, PC, Switch, PS3. I have been playing Dungeons and Dragons since 1980 and I’m trying to get back into Magic: The Gathering (played 3rd Edition to around 2010). I have a small collection of board and card games, that include Ticket to Ride, Binding of Isaac, exploding Kittens, WOW TCG, Lucidity and many more.
What is DIG? DIG is Diverse and Inclusive Gaming, we are a group of like minded LGBTQ+ folks who enjoy gaming, knowing that the people we game with are non-discriminatory and share a passion for gaming in it’s many forms. We are not here to tell you what or how to play, we are not here to tell you who you can or cant play with. We want to build up a network of players from around the world that we can put in touch with each other and group up in game or meet up to play, knowing that they won’t be judged for who they are. We do organise our own events and do have some plans in place for the next few months (more later). We live stream twice a week on Twitch and we are looking to grow our Stream Team over the next year.
So what’s changing? The emphasis on content delivery will now be via blog posts like this and I will be hopefully recruiting folks who will write articles and update news on specific subjects. The forums are not really working, unfortunately, and I’m not finding the time to run them properly and organise everything else in my life. I’d love to keep everything running, unfortunately I’m not able to manage everything right now. A simplified delivery system seems the logical direction to take right now.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to your continued p[articipation with DIG and T & Coffee
